Motivation Monday – Wherever you are... redeem it!

Motivation Monday 10.12.15 – Wherever you are... redeem it!

Good day to you friends!

Have you ever found yourself in a mess that seemed impossible to fix?

In the Bible, in Mark chapter 5 we read about a man that found himself in so much bondage that literally his whole town wrote him off. His situation seemed completely hopeless, but then Jesus showed up.

The amazing thing about Jesus is, when ever He shows up, something happens. The guy that scared everybody finally had an encounter with Jesus, and it changed his life. Jesus set him free! The man was so thankful for what Jesus did for him that he wanted to go with Jesus, but Jesus gave him another assignment.

“And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” Mark 5:18-19

1. Sometimes Jesus tells us to go and do great things, but sometimes He wants us to stay and do great things.

Taking a step of faith to go to a new place is not easy. My wife and I have had to take a few steps of faith over the years and we have plenty of friends that have abandoned their comfortable refuge to venture out and make a difference in the world. But what this story is teaching me… sometimes it takes just as much faith to stay. Whatever Jesus said to do, that's the best place to be.

Some people think that the grass is greener on the other side, but the truth is, the grass grows the best on top of the septic tank. Instead of wanting something different, make what you have better. Have you tried?

Every new day that God gives us; we will be faced with choices. In the case of the man in Mark 5, he experienced redemption. Now Jesus issues him the challenge to stay and share his story of redemption. Jesus tells him to stay and help redeem his own community.

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17

2. Wherever you are... redeem it!

Make the most of every opportunity that you are given. It does not matter what you are doing, redeem it! You never know, today someone may need to hear your story of redemption. This week, you may have the opportunity to walk with someone that feels hopeless. Let's make the most of our opportunities this week and redeem them. According to Jesus, staying and trying to make a difference matters just as much!

Be encouraged and have an incredible week!
