Thankful Thursday 9.10.15 - Tim Tebow reminds us that gratitude changes everything!
Happy Thursday friends! In our Motivation Monday post, we talked about Joshua taking a step of faith. Today I want to revisit Joshua 1:9, but first I want to share an incredible example of gratitude that was shown this week since it is, Thankful Thursday!
Tim Tebow caught peoples attention a few months ago as word spread that he got picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles, and that he was being considered for a backup quarterback position. This past Saturday 9.5.15, the headlines included Tebow's name yet again as the Eagles announced that he was being cut from the roster.
Tim Tebow posted his opinion on the situation on Facebook shortly after the news was released.
"Thanks Philadelphia Eagles and Coach Kelly for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love! "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 #Blessed"
That is how he responded to being cut from the Philadelphia Eagles? Some people may question his ability to play as a quarterback in the NFL, but nobody can question his character. Some people may struggle to understand his faith, but there is no doubt that yet again, Tim Tebow is showing us how to respond to difficult news. As Tim Tebow has shared, he would love to play quarterback in the NFL, but clearly he brings way more to the table than just athletic ability.
If you want to be known for more than what you do, take notes! This is a great way to handle transition. Gratitude changes everything, and I'm thankful for the example that Tim Tebow set this week. The truth is, Tebow has that kind of perspective because his identity is found in more then football. Tim Tebow is a perfect example of someone that gets Joshua 1:9.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
God said a lot of awesome stuff in this one verse, but there is more to it for me than just the words He used. God was making a promise here that really does change the game. God told Joshua something that He wants all of us to understand. Because of who God is, we don’t have to do life alone. Even when things don't seem to go in our favor, God is always for us. And when you realize that you are not alone, you walk through life differently.
I am so thankful that there is a God who loves us. I am so thankful that He is mindful of you and me. I am so thankful that no matter what we may face, we don’t have to do life alone. I am thankful that Tim Tebow reminded us this week that gratitude changes everything.
I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow. If the Lord gives me tomorrow, He will be there to walk with me! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and don't forget to share something that you are thankful for today!
PS. Tim Tebow, thank you for walking by faith my brother. Thank you for your example.
