Thankful Thursday 9.24.15 – Thank You Door Holders!
This past Sunday at Daybreak Church, we celebrated our 2-Year Anniversary. It was such a special day as we looked back at how far we have come. My message was titled, “Shout Out To The Door Holders”. The term door holder comes from Psalm 84:10.
“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10
This passage says that it’s a good thing to be a door holder. This may seem like a low position in our minds, but serving is where it’s at! As a kid I was raised to hold doors, but that practice is almost lost in our culture today. On Sunday after church we went to a restaurant and on my cup I found a MLKjr quote that spoke to this exact thought.
“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” -MLKjr
I want to take the time to thank all of the door holders in my life. Those that went before me, worked hard, prayed long, and obeyed regardless of the circumstances you faced. Because of your faith, we can continue to walk by faith. Because of your testimony and stories of God’s faithfulness, we can keep going.
I am thankful for the door holders in my life. I hope that when I am long gone, my legacy of being a door holder, and trying to serve God and others well, will continue to echo loudly.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and that you find a way to serve someone else and be a door holder. And don't forget to share something that you are thankful for today!
