Motivation Monday 9.7.15 – What’s your next step?
Happy Monday friends! I don’t know what you have on the docket this week, but it will probably involve you taking some kind of step forward if you want to make any kind of progress. In the book of Joshua we read about a step of faith that Joshua had to take.
“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.” Joshua 1:2
So in order for Joshua and the children of Israel to get into the promise land, they first had to cross the Jordan river. Joshua chapter 3 explains this journey in detail, and when you have time, I encourage you to grab a bible and check out this powerful faith story. Right before Joshua takes a step into the raging river, God speaks into his life.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
This sounds pretty motivational to me, but God is not just giving Joshua some random words. He is very intentional with what He is trying to communicate. I believe that God was trying to get some of these words stuck in Joshua's head. If you go back to verse 6, between verses 6-9 God actually says, “Be strong and of good courage” 3 times!
Joshua probably already had words echoing in his brain. The enemy was probably speaking to him saying, “you can't do this, you are going to fail, don’t even try!” But God's song over you is greater than the enemy's. God is trying to change Joshua’s inner soundtrack, and today He wants to change yours too.
So as you enter this new workweek, be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you!
What river do you have in front of you? What’s your next step?
Be encouraged and have a great week friend!
