A date on the calendar can mean a lot when it is attached to a pivotal moment in your life. Thirteen years ago today I made an intentional decision at an altar to commit to living beyond myself and I meant every word that I shared on August 20th, 2004. It's amazing how powerful our words are. It's amazing how quickly life can change.
As I have processed what today could be like, I recognized that anger could show up to dance again. I knew that bitterness could be the aftertaste that lingered, and pain could be the soundtrack that played on repeat.
But just like the decision I made that day, letting anger, bitterness and pain dictate today are also intentional decisions.
Joy > Anger
Forgiveness > Bitterness
Gratitude > Pain
I choose joy, forgiveness and gratitude.
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
1 Peter 5:10
...will himself restore you...
I took this picture yesterday. It's a beautiful sunset. But what you can't see is the intense storm that took place just an hour prior to this picture. I was outside during the storm. My clothes were soaked completely through. The rain was intense and the wind was strong. But after the storm, God painted this sky. I didn't choose the storm but it was worth it to hold on until it subsided.
Thank you, Jesus for hope. Exhale.
